Growing Grounds Farm in Santa Maria is your local source for pesticide-free produce, flowers and fruit & vegetable plants. A program of Transitions-Mental Health Association, we combine horticultural therapy and vocational training to provide individuals with mental illness employment and a supportive environment where personal growth can be realized. Growing Grounds Farm, Santa Maria was launched in October 2000, modeled on our successful sister business, Growing Grounds Farm and Nursery in San Luis Obispo.

The Farm Stand is open Thursdays 12-dusk and the Second Saturday of every month from 10am-3pm. Stop on by!

Who Can Work at Growing Grounds?

Most employees are referred to us by the Santa Barbara County Department of Behavioral Wellness. Employees are diagnosed with persistent illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder or major depression.
