Youth Family Services
The Family Support Specialist works as a team with the families and caregivers of minor children who have emotional and behavioral problems. Family Support Specialists provide support, information, and referrals necessary to improve the quality of life for families and their children. Services are provided in both English and Spanish.

Where Are Services Available?
Services are available throughout San Luis Obispo County and North Santa Barbara County.
Who Can Participate?
Families, guardians, and caregivers who are concerned that their minor child may be experiencing mental health challenges are eligible to participate.
What Services Are Provided?
Youth Family Services provides support, education, and resources to families navigating the mental health system, including:

One-on-one support

Advocacy, support, and education groups

Triple P Parent Education and Support

Connection with others who have similar experiences and challenges

Orientation for families entering the mental health system

Referrals to additional programs and services that may provide assistance

Information from professional staff who participate in regional and statewide meetings regarding current mental health policies and resources

Opportunities to participate in planning programs and services
How Much Does It Cost?
Youth Family Services is a free program funded by the San Luis Obispo County Department of Behavioral Health, Santa Barbara County Department of Behavioral Wellness, and the Mental Health Services Act.
