Superar, is a 9-minute film entirely in Spanish with English subtitles. Meaning “to surpass,” the film focuses on the participants’ experiences of surpassing their unique mental health challenges by reaching for help. At the end of the film, viewers are directed toward SLO Hotline, whose volunteers can tap into a Spanish translation service to refer callers to the resources they may need. Our hope for this film is to eliminate stigma that may be associated with receiving mental health services, link our Latino neighbors to the Spanish-speaking services our communities offer, and show that recovery is absolutely possible.
